Tussock Artwork

Tussock Art Works form part of the Macraes Heritage and Art Park

Golden Spaniards

Created by John Reynolds, the Golden Spaniards  is an artwork in which approximately 6000 golden spaniards (a type of spear grass) have been planted out in an area landscaped in the form of a spiral-shaped ziggurat.  Currently this area resides in land owned by Oceana Gold and is not public access

Snow Tussock

Also created by John Reynolds’ is the Snow Tussock artwork.  John Reynolds described it to be New Zealand’s slowest artwork (it will take decades to reach maturity).  The work is formed by 854 tussocks planted in a 70 x 70 metre grid.
